Ex-WWE Star Dave Bautista Set To Make MMA Debut In October

It’s taken a long time, but it appears as if former WWE superstar Dave “Batista” Bautista will finally make his MMA debut. According to a report by TMZ, Bautista will fight on October 6 at a CES MMA event in Rhode Island.

Bautista, who is 43 years old, will meet Rashid Evans on the card (not to be confused with the UFC’s Rashad Evans). Evans is 1-2 as an amateur.

The report stated that the card will be televised in some form, though nothing was made official. It will take place inside the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence.

Bautista claimed back in 2010 that he was nearing final talks to join Strikeforce, but nothing ever became official. Eventually, Zuffa purchased Strikeforce and seemed to have no interest in adding Bautista.

Bautista has trained with Nick Diaz and Cesar Gracie in the past, but recently opened his own MMA gym in Florida. Former WWE stars Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley have eached transitioned to MMA over the years.
