Chris Cariaso vs. Josh Ferguson

A flyweight matchup is next, as Chris Cariaso (13-3) takes on TUF alum Josh Ferguson (8-4). Taking charge of the Octagon will be referee Jason McCoy.

Round 1: Ferguson comes right after Cariaso, throwing rights and attempting a takedown that Cariaso avoids. Instead, Cariaso turns things and gets a takedown for a brief second. Ferguson misses with a right, but lands a second square on the face of Cariaso. Ferguson eats a left by Cariaso that buckles him, and Cariaso gets a strong position in half-guard on top of Ferguson. Cariaso lets Ferguson up, as he has been in control of the striking game so far. Ferguson eats another solid strike, and goes for a double-leg takedown that Cariaso is unable to keep from going to the ground on. Ferguson grabs the head of Cariaso, but isn’t able to get a guillotine in. Cariaso lands and left on his way to reversing control. Ferguson lands a spinning kick, but it does no damage to Cariaso.

Round 2: Ferguson fires in with a right that connects, but Cariaso comes right back to take control of the Octagon. Cariaso with a nice combo, as a cut has now started to cause blood to pour from the face of Ferguson. Cariaso landing his cross with ease right now, but Ferugson gets the takedown. However, it’s Cariaso who counters and lands some strikes before standing back up. Cariaso with a left, as the striking has been all Cariaso so far. Ferguson with another takedown attempt, but Cariaso gets out with ease. Cariaso moving around the Octagon with ease, a Ferguson finally gets inside and starts landing a few strikes. Cariaso now in control, holding Ferguson up against the cage and landing knees. Foot sweep into a bodylock has Cariaso on top of Ferguson, who is now unloading elbows to the face.

Round 3: Cariaso looking fresh after two rounds of continuous action, but Ferguson gets the first strike and shoots for a leg. Cariaso counters nd is now in control on the mat. Ferguson gets up and out, lands a kick and goes for a takedown again. Cariaso, however, spins control around and uses the foot sweep to take Ferguson to the mat yet again. Cariaso looking for a choke after softening Ferguson up with punches. Cariaso too powerful, but Ferguson able to work his way to his feet, and avoid the foot sweep this time. Cariaso unable to take the back, as Ferguson does take the back and is looking to lock in a rear-naked choke wth both hooks in. Cariaso grabs the wrist with Ferguson still on his back. Ferguson still looking for the choke but Cariaso keeping Ferguson from getting it locked in and survives.
