Ed Soares Wouldn’t Trade His Job For Any Other In The World

The hours are incredibly long. The clients are some of the hardest-headed individuals in the world. But manager to the stars Ed Soares wouldn’t have it any other way.

Soares, who is in charge of fighters such as UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo, former UFC light heavyweight champ Lyoto Machida, and current UFC middleweight king Anderson Silva, talked about the pressures of being a manager in MMA during a recent interview with MMASucka.

“Sometimes I wish I could just sit back and say, ‘Wow, I’m the manager of Anderson Silva and Lyoto Machida,’ but I just don’t have time to do that,” Soares said. “I feel like instead of me sitting back and doing that, I could be using that time doing something better or trying to bring more opportunity to them.”

Soares believes many people don’t think managers do much, but that isn’t the case, at least for Soares who said, “The days are crazy, man. I go from media, to dealing with logos on shorts, to deal with getting tickets. You name it. People say, ‘What do we do as a manager?’ I say, ‘What don’t we do as a manager?'”

Soares was a key part of the Silva documentary, Like Water, which shows a lot of what goes on behind-the-scenes between Silva and Soares.
