The coach for Chael Sonnen, Scott McQuarry, talked about making a request for an appeal after Sonnen’s loss to Anderson Silva this past weekend at UFC 148: Silva vs. Sonnen II. Instead, McQuarry now wants the UFC fans to force the action and set up a third meeting.
“(The fans) need to call the UFC. We need a rematch,” said McQuarry, in a recent interview with Bleacher Report. “Chael is a great champion and deserves a fair fight.”
McQuarry was upset about Silva greasing himself down prior to the fight, grabbing Sonnen’s shorts, and what many felt was a knee to the face of a grounded Sonnen that led to the finish. Replays did show that the knee was legal.
