Maybe Chael Sonnen won’t be facing Michael Bisping in the near future as some have guessed. UFC president Dana White, in an interview with AXS.TV and Ron Kruck, said that Sonnen is headed to the back of the line in terms of contending in the UFC’s middleweight division.
“This one was pretty decisive,” said White, of the Sonnen-Anderson Silva match from this past weekend. “He’s beat him twice. Chael is in a position that most guys are – when you go on a run at the title, and you lost two times, back at the end of the line.”
Sonnen’s defeated the likes of Brian Stann and Bisping to secure his status as the No. 1 contender. The bout with Bisping was a close decision, one that many felt could have went the way of the Brit.
It remains to be seen who will be next for Sonnen, and for that matter, who Silva will meet next for his title.
