The UFC recently announced that they are heading to China later this year. Now, it appears that Russia is the next target for the fight promotion.
UFC president Dana White confirmed that the UFC is looking to move into the Russian market during the post-fight press conference for UFC 148: Silva vs. Sonnen II over the weekend. Of course, with all the bad-blood between White and Russian legend Fedor Emelianenko, maybe that isn’t the best of ideas.
“I don’t know how well I’d do in Russia,” White said. “But yeah – we’re actually taking an event to Russia very soon. Very soon. Sooner than you’d think.”
White didn’t mention an exact time for the event. The UFC has hosted shows in places such as Brazil, Australia, England, Canada and Japan, with plans for India and South Africa going forward, along with the November China show.
