Forrest Griffin says he wasn’t in the right mindset following his three-round war with Tito Ortiz Saturday night in the co-main event of UFC 148: Silva vs. Sonnen II. Griffin, who sprinted from the Octagon before the results were even read, conducted the post-fight interview with Ortiz.
During the post-fight press conference, Griffin said he was sorry for what went down after the third meeting between the two ex-champions. Griffin won the fight via decision.
“I sincerely apologize,” Griffin said. “I can see you guys have got a ton of history and I apologize. I wish I could take that back. I’m sorry.”
Ortiz was upset because Joe Rogan, who normally conducts the interviews, was one of those that helped push Ortiz into the spotlight when he was coming up. Ortiz talked about how he felt it would have been a perfect ending to be interviewed by Rogan after his last fight.
