UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos offered up his predictions for the co- and main event fights for this evening at UFC 148: Silva vs. Sonnen II. Dos Santos, being Brazilian, made a pretty obvious choice in terms of the Anderson Silva-Chael Sonnen bout.
“Think for sure, Anderson is gonna knock Chael out in the first round,” said dos Santos, during an interview with MMAInterviews.TV. “Anderson is not normal; Anderson is very smart, (but) he is different. He’s the No. 1 pound-for-pound (fighter) in the world, and I think he’s gonna keep being (No. 1) after this fight.”
Silva and Sonnen have met once before, with “The Spider” scoring a fifth round submission victory over Sonnen. Over the past two years, Sonnen has called out many Brazilian fighters and mocked Silva, almost forcing him to take the rematch even though he didn’t feel Sonnen was deserving.
As for the co-main event between ex-UFC light heavyweight champions Forrest Griffin and Tito Ortiz, JDS offered up his take.
“Griffin by decision,” dos Santos said. “They are both very good.”
