It is now official. Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen each made weight and will compete Saturday night in the main event of UFC 148: Silva vs. Sonnen II for Silva’s UFC middleweight title.
Silva weighed in at 184 pounds Friday evening in front of a packed house at the weigh-ins in Mandalay Bay. Sonnen hit the scale at 185.
“The Spider” tried to provoke Sonnen once again, tossing a shoulder into Sonnen as they squared off.
“Champion vs. icon, myth vs. legend,” Sonnen said. “Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen. The fake guy vs. the bad guy.”
Silva said, “I don’t respect Chael, Chael don’t respect UFC, Chael don’t respect my country. Tomorrow, I come to fight.”
Co-main event fighters Tito Ortiz and Forrest Griffin each weighed 204 pounds.
