Former Strikeforce champion Cung Le knows that the odds favor Patrick Cote Saturday night at UFC 148: Silva vs. Sonnen II. That, however, fits Le just fine.
The action movie star dropped his UFC debut to Wanderlei Silva last year, but has focused himself on getting that first W. Despite being a replacement for Rich Franklin, and making his first UFC appearance in over a year, Cote actually enters the fight favored.
“The odds,” Le said, grinning. “I like being the underdog. I’m happy about that. It’s just like Patrick said, when you step inside the cage, it’s 50-50 (who wins).”
Le has taken years off from fighting to film movies, but 40-year-old seems determined now to remain in MMA for the immediate future. He enters the Cote fight with a record of 7-2, and knows anything can happen inside the Octagon.
“With four-ounce gloves, there’s always a game-changer,” Le said. “Patrick Cote has heavy hands; I just have to leave it all in the cage and not hold back. I just train hard and plan on fighting very hard.”
