“UFC On FX: Johnson Vs. McCall” Results

Welcome to’s live coverage of UFC on FX: Johnson vs. McCall. Tonight’s fight card comes to us live from the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida. The main card will air live on FX while the preliminary card will air on FUEL TV.

Now, on to the action! We’ll have live round-by round coverage of all preliminary and main card bouts updated every few minutes. Remember to keep refreshing this page for the most up to date results.


Sean Pierson defeated Jake Hecht via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

Henry Martinez defeated Bernardo Magalhaes via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28).

Buddy Roberts vs. Caio Magalhaes

Round 1: Buddy Roberts drops Magalhaes with a right hand and comes charging in with a couple more strikes. Magalhaes already rattled as he continues backing up against the American. Magalhaes goes for a double but transitions to a single. Roberts having none as he remains on the feet against the cage. Magalhaes continues going for the takedown and for good reason. Looked very uncomfortable on his feet against an aggressive Roberts. Magalhaes goes for a trip but gives up his back momentarily. The two back on the feet again. Both fighters giving each other a lot of distance and swinging with one or two big punches. Neither middleweight setting things up a lot on the feet.

Round 2: Roberts swings for another big right but glances off the Brazilian. Magalhaes grabs a kick before attempting the takedown. Exerting a lot of energy in the clinch as Roberts continues to defend nicely. Continues to go for a double leg before Roberts gets some distance and moves back to the feet. Magalhaes breathing heavily as he gets clipped by another right coming in on an exchange. Another one-two from Roberts that lands on the temple. Roberts now getting creative as he ends a combination with a flying knee that doesn’t quite get through. Looking more and more comfortable as we head to the third.

Round 3: Magalhaes goes for a few leg kicks that find Robert’s thigh. Not too many combinations thrown here. Backing down Roberts now who may be cruising to the finish at this point. Magalhaes with another takedown attempt and finally gets it. Roberts able to get back to his feet before getting taking to the mat again. Magalhaes in Roberts guard and will need to let loose here. Roberts gets his hips out and hits Magalhaes with another right hand in the standup. The Brazilian looking fatigued as he plods along the Octagon.

Buddy Roberts defeated Caio Magalhaes via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28).

Roberts moves to 12-2 as he looked far more comfortable than his opponent in their Octagon debut.

Tim Means vs. Justin Salas

Round 1: Means rocks Salas with a right as he comes in for a kick. Means swarming with relentless shots. Now some big knees from the clinch knock Salas to the mat but somehow gets back to his feet. Very wobbly as he continues to get clipped by Means and a few strikes on the ground finishes this one off.

Tim Means defeated Justin Salas via TKO (punches) at 1:06 in round 1

Dustin Pague vs. Jared Papazian

Round 1: Papazian looking amped for the fight and begins cornering Pague. The two exchange wildly, clinching in the middle of the Octagon. Nice trip by Pague who ends up in the mount. Big elbow from the top position as Papazian tries to get his hips out but gives up his back in the process. Pagues now has him on his back as the two lean up against the cage. Papazian trying to control his opponent’s wrist as the two continue to grapple. Pague slips in a rear naked choke with the gable grip and taps Papazian.

Dustin Pague defeated Jared Papazian via submission (rear naked choke) at 3:21 in the first round.

Great performance for Pague who took full advantage on the ground, transitioning to mount before submitting a game Papazian.

Leonard Garcia vs. Matt Grice

Round 1: Grice swings and misses as the two continue to circle around the cage. Nice takedown from Grice who set it up with a jab. Now in Garcia’s guard, looking to press him against the fence. Some ground and pound lands as Grice looks to get his leg out of the half guard. Now in north-south, going for a choke but Garcia escapes. Some short elbows from the top position for Grice who continues to wear out “Bad Boy”. More elbows to the temple with nicely timed shots. Staying busy but composed as the round ends.

Round 2: Grice goes in for a single and lands a high kick in the transition. Both back to the feet. Solid takedown from Grice as he catches Garcia charging in. Great timing for the wrestler. Grice working more ground and pound from half guard, staying active on the mat. Controlling Garcia who continues to eat some more short elbows. That is exactly how you neutralize one of the biggest brawlers in the UFC.

Round 3: Garcia will need to watch that takedown which has ended his hopes in the previous rounds. Nice high kick from Grice. Garcia will need to swarm but looks fearful of the takedown. A couple of off balanced shots from Garcia as he appears fatigued. Another beautiful takedown, catching Garcia coming in. Grice stacks his opponent and rains down a series of full shots before landing into the guard. Leonard gets his hips out and comes to his feet. Another single leg coming off a Garcia kick before the bell.

Matt Grice defeated Leonard Garcia via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).

Great MMA wrestling showcased from Grice who was able to take Garcia down at will. “The Real One” has won 5 of his last 6.

Seth Baczynski vs. Lance Benoist

Round 1: Benoist goes for a guillotine but too high on the choke as Baczynski slips out. The two clinch before Benoist gets a quick inside trip, ending up in Baczynski’s guard. Baczynski controlling his posture well as he posts his arm on the mat and tries to get to the feet. Benoist throws a knee before Baczynski was able to get to his feet. Referee Chris Adams breaks up the two for an illegal strike and issues a warning. Benoist leaps on his opponent, going from a head and arm choke from the guard on a standing Baczynski. Now goes for a takedown but ends up on the bottom as Baczynski lands a few glancing blows on the ground. A couple of upkicks keeps “The Polish Pistola” at bay. Baczynski may have stolen the round, ending up on top position at the bell.

Fightline scores the round 10-9 for Benoist

Round 2: The two exchange and end up in a clinch. Baczynski goes for a double and Benoist clips him with another illegal knee. No points appear to be deducted however. Another nice double leg takedown for Benoist who looks to work the ground and pound. Now landing some shots as Baczynski was looking for the armbar. Rangy legs from Baczynski go for a couple upkicks. Another submission attempt leaves him susceptible to strikes as Baczynski now showing some damage over his left eye. The two get to the feet before Baczynski gets out of a takedown attempt as is now on top for the first time in the fight. Not much doing from Benoists’ guard though.

Round 3: Both guys end up in the clinch and Baczynski gets in the Thai clinch and lands a few knees. One that lands clean and opens up Benoist. The two scramble and Benoist gets another takedown. A few elbows that get blocked from Baczynski and he looks to punctuate this round. Baczynski controls his posture well, prompting a standup from the ref. Baczynski hunting now as he throws Benoist to his back and gets in side control.

Seth Baczynski defeated Lance Benoist via split decision (27-30, 29-28, 29-28).

Mike Pierce vs. Carlos Eduardo Rocha

Round 1: Rocha throws a knee in the clinch as they both grapple for position. Both continue to remain locked against the cage. Classic grinding from Pierce who secures the takedown. Rocha controlling the wrist of Pierce who stands up for good measure, not wanting to engage the jiu-jitsu expert on the ground. Pierce has him against the cage again and landing a few glancing knees and elbows as the round comes to a close.

Round 2: Mike Pierce clinches again and moves him to the fence. Superior grappling and positioning against Rocha who uses all his force to avoid a takedown. Rocha now goes for a calf slicer but gives it up quickly. Pierce gets another takedown and carefully works the ground and pound from butterfly guard. Lost of respect shown against the Brazilian. Rocha throws a few strikes of his own from the bottom but struggling to get anything going from the guard. Round ends with Pierce grinding against the fence again.

Round 3: More of the same here as Pierce gets the clinch and backs Rocha against the fence. Pierce peppers Rocha with a few body shots and the boos start to trickle down from the Florida fans for the lack of action. Pierce maintains the over-under position continuing to work the dirty boxing. Referee stands them up and Pierce gets a strong single leg. It seems that the threat of a Rocha submission has prevented Pierce from getting too aggressive on the ground. Throwing a few shots as Rocha tries to control his wrists. Pierce slipping in more shots, going body head for a little. Pierce now stacking Rocha and lands the biggest punches of the night.

Eddie Wineland vs. Scott Jorgensen

Round 1: The two come out with a fast pace as Wineland lands a nice left hand. Both fighters struggling to close the distance, especially Jorgensen with his shorter reach. Jorgensen throws an overhand right but gets countered from his opponent. Bantamweights showcasing their speed on the feet. Nice jab from Jorgensen as both fighters appear to be opening up a little bit. Jab knocks Jorgensen down before he clinches in desperation. Wineland nows gets a nice trip from the battered Jorgensen. A few more strikes pepper Jorgensen in the transition before they get to the feet. Wineland connecting a little faster with his punches as he lands another big combination.

Round 2: Jorgensen breathing hard before the start of the round. Jorgensen gets a double leg but Wineland gets up right away. A few stiff jabs catch Wineland who starts to bleed from the face. Jorgensen putting together some combinations that are starting to connect. Wineland loses his mouthguard momentarily. Both guys sticking and moving here. Huge right hand floors Jorgensen and finishes up with a few more on the ground.

Eddie Wineland defeated Scott Jorgensen via TKO (punches) at 4:10 in the second round.

Jorgensen put up a good fight, but Wineland’s power stole the show. Nice bounce back victory for the former WEC champion.

Mike Pyle vs. Josh Neer

Round 1: Neer comes out swinging but fails to connect on any of his overhands. Pyle counters with a nice takedown and looks to pass into side mount. Pyle trying to get into mount before Neer attempts a kneebar. Pyle unable to do much on the ground thus far as Neer goes for an armbar attempt. Neer gets out and goes for his own single leg. Pyle manages to escape but gets caught off balance against the cage. Neer pressuring with a couple shots. Neer lands a nice uppercut and follows with some strikes to the body. The two trade blows against the cage and Pyle lands a short right that lands on the button. Huge shot knocks Neer out.

Mike Pyle defeated Josh Neer via KO (punches) at 4:46 in the first round.

Pyle explains that his slip was an attempt to engage Neer. Not sure if that’s the case, but a big victory nonetheless.

Erick Silva vs. Charlie Brenneman

Round 1: Big knee from Silva and then goes for a little ground and pound. Another strong knee as Brenneman clinches and tries for the takedown. Quick pace set early on. Brenneman gets him down and Silva goes for a finger four leglock but loses it quickly. Brenneman will need to take this to the mat against an explosive Silva. Nice right hand followed by a takedown attempt as he changes levels beautifully. Has not been able to get Silva to the ground for more than a moment, however. Brenneman has the over under before referee stands them up. Silva keeping hands low, stalking Brenneman. Silva has Brenneman turtled up and goes in for the hooks. Silva secures the choke and gets the tap.

Erick Silva defeated Charlie Brenneman via submission (rear naked choke) at 4:33 in the first round.

Impressive performance from Silva who delivers Brenneman’s first submission defeat. His sheer athleticism continues to amaze.

Demetrious Johnson vs. Ian McCall

Round 1: Johnson bouncing back and forth as the two find their range. Johnson gets an underhook and secures the double leg. McCall is able to get back to his feet however. Big right hand downs McCall before they stand in the clinch. Surprising power from “Mighty Mouse” thus far as McCall struggles to find his rhythm. Johnson goes for a takedown and eats a knee from McCall. The two exchange against the cage as the round comes to a close.

Round 2: McCall getting more aggressive as he gets the double leg takedown but Johnson scrambles right back to his feet. A couple more short shots from McCall wobbles his opponent. A low kick to the groin suspends the fight momentarily. McCall catches Johnson coming in for the double but “Mighty Mouse” gets right back up. Going to take a lot to get one of the UFC’s fastest fighters to the mat. Nice spinning elbow from McCall against the fence as he starts to gain some momentum in the second round.

Round 3: A scrappy fight thus far, McCall and Johnson clinch and throw a few blows in transition. It’s come down to a striker vs. grappler matchup. The two clinch and Johnson throws a nice punch from the break. Johnson catches a legs and lands a few short shots. McCall finds Johnson against the cage and tries to land a few knees that get blocked. A jab, pushkick combo from Mighty Mouse lands nicely. It seems like this one may go a few more rounds.

Fightline scores the round 10-10.

Demetrious Johnson defeated Ian McCall via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 29-28).

Tough loss for McCall but Johnson neutralized his wrestling and was a little sharper in the standup. Johnson now faces Joseph Benavidez for the first Flyweight championship in the UFC.
