Just three weeks after the UFC announced Swedish fighter Papy Abedi would step in to face Rick “The Horror” Story in place of Rich “The Raging Bull” Attonito at UFC on FX: Maynard vs Guida, the Swede has been forced to withdraw from the bout due to an injury.
Story’s third opponent scheduled for a June 22 showdown will be UFC newcomer, Brock “The Machine” Jardine. Training out of The Pit Elevated in Utah with TUF veterans Court McGee and Ramsey Nijem, Jardine is looking to improve his record to an almost perfect 10-1. Jardine’s sole loss of his young welterweight career came at the hands of TUF champion, Tony Ferguson, back in September 2010.
As Jardine looks to take advantage of the biggest moment of his fighting life, both Story and UFC matchmaker, Joe Silva, are likely hoping “The Machine” can stay healthy for the next couple weeks leading up to his Octagon debut.
