During a recent appearance on UFC Tonight, former UFC champion BJ Penn let it be known that he does have some desire to return to the Octagon. Penn retired last year after a loss to Nick Diaz.
“I am kind of warming up to the idea,” Penn said. “Everywhere I go people are telling me to get back into the ring and I think it is working a little.”
UFC president Dana White has talked that he feels Penn will fight again in the near future. Josh Koscheck appeared to have a contract in place to face Penn, but “The Prodigy” turned it down.
Without naming an exact opponent, Penn said, “I would like to put together a fight that makes sense. I don’t want any freebie fights. I would like to put together a fight that makes sense for everyone; for the fighters, the fans and the organization.”
