Earlier today, top UFC welterweight Josh Koscheck tweeted that he’d been offered a fight against B.J. Penn and was waiting to hear if The Prodigy would accept.
It seems like everyone but Penn has been declaring the Hawaiian MMA veteran un-retired lately, but The Prodigy himself is remaining steadfast in his position. The 33-year-old responded to Koscheck shortly after he posted that Tweet, letting him know that he won’t be coming out of retirement in time to help him afford his next extravagant purchase.
“@joshkoscheck I know it costs a lot of money to live that lavish lifestyle, big house, fast cars & you need big fights but sorry I’m not coming back anytime soon!”
Penn announced his retirement following a unanimous decision loss to Nick Diaz at UFC 137 this past October and has not competed since. There have been sporadic rumors (some started by UFC president Dana White himself) of Penn’s return, but, as of now, Penn has given no indication whether or not he’ll definitely return to the cage.
