UFC on FUEL TV 3: Korean Zombie vs. Poirier is now in the books, having gone down at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virginia. As usual, the superlative fighters on the card were awarded bonuses for their efforts, this time in the amount of $40,000 each.
Knockout of the Night was awarded to Tom Lawlor, who celebrated his 29th birthday with a quick first-round knockout over Jason MacDonald in the night’s main card opener. The victory puts Lawlor back on track after a first-round submission loss to Chris Weidman.
Submission of the Night went to Chan Sung Jung, The Korean Zombie, who took out Dustin Poirier improbably (according to the oddsmakers, at least) with a D’Arce choke in the fourth round of their featherweight tilt. The win makes it three in a row for Jung, who’s finished Leonard Garcia, Mark Hominick and now Poirier each by spectacular fashion.
Fight of the Night was earned by main event competitors Jung and Poirier, for their back and forth featherweight war. This makes for Jung’s fourth post-fight bonus in his last three fights; not to mention that he very well may have earned himself a title shot with what was the most impressive performance of his career.
