Season nine winner of The Ultimate Fighter, James Wilks, has confirmed his retirement from mixed martial arts. Wilks posted a message on his Twitter account over the weekend, citing a doctor’s request that he end his career.
“A few of you have been asking when my next fight is. Unfortunately, I had to retire due to injury,” Wilks posted.
Wilks went 2-2 during his UFC career, including a victory over DaMarques Johnson in the finals of the reality show. He last appeared inside the Octagon in 2010, falling to Claude Patrick.
The British fighter, who posted a career record of 7-4, will continue teaching and training at his own school in California.
