Johny Hendricks and UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre have something in common after Hendricks earned a split decision victory over Josh Koscheck Saturday night at UFC on FOX: Diaz vs. Miller. Hendricks and GSP are the only fighters to earn wins over Koscheck and Jon Fitch – two former contenders in the welterweight division.
“Dude, that’s one tough dude,” Hendricks said. “I hit him with everything. I knew he was one tough fighter.”
Hendricks, when asked by Joe Rogan after the fight who was next, proclaimed “Give me that title. I want to bring it home to Texas.”
Hendricks went for a pair of big powerful double-leg takedowns, but didn’t quite finish them completely. The former Oklahoma State University wrestler was going for the knockout blow from the start. He out-landed Koscheck, 91-59 over the three rounds.
An eye poke early in the fight seemed to really bother Hendricks, as he continued to try and clear his vision. Koscheck also had his own eye issues with major swelling coming above the right eye after a Hendricks strike.
Hendricks (13-1) has now won four straight, while Koscheck (17-6) had his two-win streak snapped.
