Former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida will try to stop the win streak of Ryan Bader when the two collide on August 4 at UFC on FOX 4. The Brazilian news outlet iG reported the bout as nearing official status on Monday night.
Bader (14-2) has rebounded from back-to-back losses to defeat Jason Brilz and former UFC champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. His two defeats also came against fighters who are custom to wearing UFC gold, as Tito Ortiz and Jon Jones scored submission victories over the former winner of The Ultimate Fighter.
Machida (17-3) was stopped by Jones in his most recent Octagon appearance, as “Bones” dealt “The Dragon” a submission loss via choke. Machida is just 1-3 in his last four fights.
UFC on FOX 4 will likely take place in Los Angeles at the Staples Center. Hector Lombard-Brian Stann will also be a featured fight for the event.
