You’re probably already up to date on the Alistair Overeem situation, but if not, here’s a quick summary:
-After a drug testing mix-up with the Nevada State Athletic Commission prior to his UFC 141 bout against Brock Lesnar, Overeem was granted a conditional fighting license with the provision he submit to two random drug tests.
-At the UFC 146 press conference held to promote his planned bout against UFC heavyweight champ Junior dos Santos, Overeem was hit with a surprise test.
-That test showed an elevated testosterone-to-epitestosterone ratio, which eventually saw the bout with dos Santos cancelled as Overeem embarked on disciplinary action with the NSAC.
-At his NSAC hearing, Overeem claimed that his ratio was spiked because of an anti-inflammatory mixture he was administered by this guy which contained testosterone. The doctor can’t remember if he told Overeem what was in the mixture and Overeem never asked what he was being injected with.
-Overeem was suspended for nine months.
Check out a video of Overeem at Dr. Molina’s clinic with MMA veteran Tra Telligman, presumably receiving the injection which caused him to fail his test.
