Yesterday, Alistair Overeem appeared before the Nevada State Athletic Commission to answer for the elevated T:E ratio he registered on a surprise drug test prior to UFC 146.
The Dutch fighter explained that the esteemed Dr. Hector Molina (whose name you may have heard in connection with botched plastic surgery jobs, illegally prescribed narcotics and steroids, or an assault and “family violence” charge, among other notable activities) injected him with a mixture — the contents of which he was not informed of and had no interest in inquiring about — intended to act as an anti-inflammatory to alleviate the many injuries he’s suffered in the name of entertainment.
Only — oops! — there was testosterone in it.
The NSAC denied Overeem’s petition for a conditional license, but reduced his suspension from twelve to nine months. Judging by their tone at the end of the meeting, they would have rather sent him on his way with a fruit basket and a pamphlet on choosing the right doctors, because he’s totally smart and respectable. He can speak Dutch and English!
