The UFC sent out a press release today drawing attention to the “UFC 147 special announcement press conference” that will be held tomorrow in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The presser will stream live at 10a.m. ET/7a.m. PT.
UFC president Dana White, UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and number one middleweight contender Chael Sonnen are all scheduled to be in attendance.
Rumors have been swirling lately about the planned UFC 147 event, which is scheduled to take place on June 23 out of a soccer stadium in Brazil and to feature a blockbuster main event between Silva and Sonnen. As noted earlier, the show’s future is now up in the air, as Rio will be hosting the “Rio+20″ United Nations conference on June 20-22; officials in charge believe this could present logistical issues and are reportedly requesting the bout be moved or rescheduled.
So far, the most predominant rumors have the main event between Silva and Sonnen being shuffled onto the UFC 148 fight card on July 7 in Las Vegas, while the rest of the UFC 147 fight card will simply be moved to a different site in Brazil, possibly to a different date.
Tune in to the presser tomorrow for all the answers.
