Shinya Aoki Has No Regrets About Breaking Bones, Set To Meet Eddie Alvarez Friday Night

When you step inside the cage, you know the risk you are taking. For Shinya Aoki, he prefers to be the one dealing out the punishment.

This Friday night, Aoki will meet Eddie Alvarez in the main event of Bellator 66 on MTV2 from Cleveland, Ohio. Aoki defeated Alvarez back in 2008 via submission.

“It doesn’t bother me when I feel my opponents’ bones break,” said Aoki, in a recent interview with “But I’m not aiming to break the bones. I’m just looking to win.”

Aoki and Alvarez are two of the biggest names in the lightweight division that do not compete in the UFC. They have combined to win 17 of their last 19 fights, sporting a career record of 52-8 between them.

“My main goal in this fight with Eddie Alvarez is to prove myself and Japanese MMA are still at the top level,” Aoki said.
