Former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia has been pushing and pushing for a return to the Octagon. Recently, while a guest on The Hammerfisting Podcast, Sylvia claimed he would go on The Ultimate Fighter if he had to to secure a shot in the UFC.
“I watch The Ultimate Fighter, and I would definitely do it if I needed to,” Sylvia said. “I helped coach season two with Matt (Hughes) and Rich (Franklin).”
Sylvia has won six of his last seven MMA fights since a loss to boxer Ray Mercer in 2009. UFC president Dana White, however, has continued to deny him another chance inside the Octagon.
Of course, with the recent troubles involving Alistair Overeem, maybe White is keeping quiet and will give Sylvia the shot at UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos next month. Kidding, only kidding.
