Maybe Cole Konrad is just not meant to defend his Bellator heavyweight championship. After waiting a few extra months to find out the No. 1 contender, it appears the planned Konrad-Eric Prindle match is off due to a hand injury suffered by Prindle.
Prindle, who was awarded the most recent Bellator heavyweight tournament title after Thiago Santos failed to make weight, made the announcement via his Twitter page.
Konrad and Prindle were expected to comprise part of the main card for this Friday’s Bellator 65 card, but the fight will now take place at Bellator 70 on May 25.
Konrad has not fought since last August, defeating Paul Buentello in a non-title fight. Since winning the belt, the former University of Minnesota NCAA Div. I wrestling champion has yet to defend it.
