Anthony Johnson feels like he is in the right place following his release from the UFC earlier this year. “Rumble” will make his debut for Titan Fighting Championship on May 25 against Dave Branch, another former UFC fighter.
Johnson was cut from the UFC after missing weight for his co-main event bout with Vitor Belfort. Following the loss, UFC president Dana White decided enough was enough and the once-promising contender was gone.
“I can’t hold on to the past or my mistakes,” said Johnson, in a recent interview with MMAjunkie.com. “I’ve got to learn from them and keep moving. I can’t let that stuff haunt me because once it haunts you, I don’t think you’ll ever get over it.”
Johnson believes he can eventually get back to the UFC, but for now, he is content with fighting for Titan and improving as an overall fighter. Titan Fighting Championship 22 will be broadcast by HDNet, with Johnson-Branch serving as the main event.
“My ultimate goal is to get back in the UFC, but I’m with Titan right now, so I can’t think about anything else,” Johnson said. “I’ve just got to think about who I’m with and who I have to compete against.”
