UFC president Dana White is not messing with the scheduled co-main event for UFC 146, posting on Twitter that the No. 1 contender match between heavyweights Frank Mir and Cain Velasquez will remain untouched. UFC 146 takes place May 26 from Las Vegas.
That leaves a huge question surrounding the main event, as it was set to feature UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos and Alistair Overeem. Earlier this week, however, Overeem failed a pre-fight drug test, leaving his chances of competing on the card in serious jeopardy.
Overeem can still request to have another sample tested, go before the Nevada State Athletic Commission and ask for his fight license, giving him the title shot in the process if he passes those steps. So far, the Overeem camp has not made any public statements in regards to the situation.
