UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos has finally reached out to the MMA masses, releasing a statement on the Alistair Overeem situation via Twitter. Currently, we are awaiting word on what will happen with Overeem regarding his failed drug test recently. The two are expected to meet at UFC 146 in May.
“I am professional and I’m champion without ever having used anything for better performance when you guys see me fighting that’s really me,” dos Santos wrote. “About what happened to Overeem I don’t know anything more than you guys know and for me it’s between him and the Nevada Athletic Commission. I know a lot about me that’s it!”
UFC president Dana White has confirmed that dos Santos will defend his title on May 26 from Las Vegas, but if Overeem fails to get his fight license, his opponent will need to be determined. Most likely, it seems as if Frank Mir will receive the shot at the UFC belt.
