UFC president Dana White let it be known that UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos needs to remain in training, as he will be defending his title on May 26 at UFC 146.
White did not reveal any new information as to who will be challenging Dos Santos in an interview with The Associated Press, but did say that dos Santos will be in action regardless of what happens with Alistair Overeem.
Overeem’s involvement in the fight remains in limbo after the former Strikeforce heavyweight champion failed a surprise pre-fight drug test given by the Nevada State Athletic Commission last week. Overeem’s T/E ratio was 14-to-1, way higher than the legal limit of 6-to-1. However, Overeem can ask for his “B” sample to be tested. If that clears, Overeem could be granted a license to face dos Santos.
