UFC president Dana White announced that the upcoming Martin Kampmann-Jake Ellenberger fight at The Ultimate Fighter: Live Finale will be a potential No. 1 contender match. The bout takes place June 1 from Las Vegas.
“The welterweight division is stacked and Jake Ellenberger and Martin Kampmann are going to fight for the chance to earn a title shot,” said White, in a press release. “They will headline the season finale of TUF: Live on FX to crown the next Ultimate Fighter. There’s a lot at stake for the guys competing on this card at the Palms.”
Kampmann and Ellenberger will have a while before the winner can cash in his shot at the belt, as Georges St-Pierre hopes to return to action later this year to unify the title with Carlos Condit. Currently, the two share interim status atop the UFC’s welterweight division.
