Tatsuya Kawajiri Wants To Prove A Point At “ONE FC: War Of The Lions”

Tatsuya Kawajiri made the move from lightweight to featherweight and has been on a roll ever since, defeating the likes of Joachim Hansen and Kazuyuki Miyata. Now, on Saturday, he’ll seek his fourth straight victory in one of the featured bouts at ONE Fighting Championship: War of the Lions in Singapore.

The event will stream live and free on ONE FC’s YouTube channel, which you can view by clicking here. The main event pits Zorobabel Moreira against Felipe Enomoto. Action starts at 8 a.m. ET.

Kawajiri will be making his debut for ONE FC against Donald Sanchez, a veteran of King of the Cage. Kawajiri is a former Strikeforce fighter, and has plans to remain as active as possible this year.

“I would like to fight six times in 2012, for ONE FC and for Dream and wherever the offer comes,” said Kawajiri, in a recent interview with “I want to fight in a way that the fans will never forget. I want to win and I want to get fight of the night. It’s not enough for me to win, I want to put on a performance which people will remember so that I can become a Japanese superstar in Singapore.”

The 33-year-old has not lost since a meeting with Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez last year. That was his lone fight in the company, as it came after a win over former Strikeforce champ Josh Thomson. Kawajiri is 30-7-2 in his MMA career.

“I feel being featherweight will give me an advantage that I did not have at 155 pounds,” Kawajiri said. “I am more comfortable fighting at this weight. Cutting the weight is not easy, but that is my business; I will make the weight.”
