The UFC continues to roll out the match ups this week, hitting fight fans with another three bouts today.
At UFC 148 in the lightweight division, undefeated Russian fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov (17-0) will take on UFC staple Gleison Tibau (25-7) at UFC 148. Nurmagomedov recently debuted successfully with the UFC, picking up his seventeenth straight pro win over Kamal Shalorus at UFC on FX 1 in January. A fifteen-time UFC veteran, Tibau has managed to put together a three-fight winning streak of late. He most recently fought last November at UFC 139, where he took a decision over Rafael dos Anjos.
UFC 148 is expected to take place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on July 7.
At featherweight on the UFC 147 fight card, a pair of Brazilians will tangle in Felipe Arantes (14-4, 2 NC) and Milton Vieira (13-7-1). Arantes has competed twice in the UFC since the promotion began taking its show to Brazil, losing by unanimous decision in his debut against Yuri Alcantara and then rebounding to earn his own UD over Antonio Carvalho at UFC 142 this past January. A veteran member of the Brazilian Top Team, Vieira is a respected veteran with a wealth of experience who will be making his UFC debut against Arantes.
UFC 147 will go down at the Estádio Olímpico João Havelange in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on June 23.
Last but not least and in the featherweight division, Leonard Garcia (15-8-1) and Matt Grice (14-4) will square off at UFC on FX 3. On a two-fight skid courtesy Nam Phan and Chan Sung Jung, “Bad Boy” Garcia will be focused intently on putting one in the win column. Whether that means he’ll at least tailor his go-for-broke style remains to be seen. Grice is similarly positioned, having been quickly TKOed by Ricardo Lamas at UFC Live 4 last June to kick start his second UFC run. His first stint in the promotion resulted in a 1-3 run and a trip to the minors.
UFC on FX 3 has not been assigned a venue, but is scheduled for June 8.
