According to Sherdog, UFC castoff Anthony Johnson has drawn his first post-octagon assignment and will be taking on Dave Branch at a Titan FC event this May.
Prone to stepping on the scales heavy, Rumble Johnson (10-4) wore out his welcome with UFC officials when he missed weight badly after moving up a division in order to stop missing weight badly. Normally a competitor in the welterweight division, Johnson made his middleweight debut against Vitor Belfort this past January and tipped the scales eleven pounds over the division limit. After getting submitted in the first round, Johnson was released from the promotion.
This will be his first fight since leaving the promotion.
Another UFC vet, Dave Branch (10-2) was let go after posting a 2-2 record in the octagon and getting submitted by Rousimar Palhares at UFC Live: Sanchez vs. Kampmann. Since exiting the UFC, Branch has gone on a two-fight winning streak over unheralded opponents on the smaller stage.
Johnson and Branch will meet at Titan FC 22, which is scheduled to take place on May 22 at the Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas.
