UFC officials announced the main event for UFC on FX 3, as lightweights Gray Maynard and Clay Guida will square off. The card takes place June 22 from Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Maynard and Guida are both coming off losses, making this a very crucial fight for one man to remain in the thick of contention in the 155-pound division. The fight will be scheduled for five rounds.
Maynard was defeated by then-UFC lightweight Frankie Edgar late in 2011, suffering a knockout in the third fight with “The Answer.” Guida, meanwhile, suffered a loss to current UFC lightweight champ Benson Henderson in a No. 1 contender bout.
This will be the UFC’s return to New Jersey, as the promotion last held a card there in 2005.
