Antonio Rogerio Nogueria was knocked out of a main event fight with Alexander Gustafsson due to a knee injury suffered in training. Now, “Minotouro” is looking to return to action against a former UFC champion in Rich Franklin.
“We had a bout scheduled against (Franklin), I was supposed to fight him in the past and I already know what game plan to use against him,” said Nogueira, in a recent interview with Tatame.com. “He’s a guy who likes to stand up. It’ll be good. One left-handed fighting another left-handed is something good to see.”
Nogueira explained he became caught in a leg-lock while training for Gustafsson. Doctors told him better to fix it now because the injury would only get worse down the road.
“It’s like I’m getting my knee cleaned,” Nogueira said. “The doctor said my knee should be alright within a month. God bless me, I’ll be fighting in June.”
