Some fighters push and push and push for a shot at the UFC championship in their weight class. Don’t count Renan Barao as one of those.
Barao, who has three wins since joining the UFC, is fine with taking another bout before getting a crack at the UFC bantamweight title. Current champion, Dominick Cruz, is coaching opposite Urijah Faber on The Ultimate Fighter: Live. The two will meet up later this year, leaving Barao to seek other challengers.
“I guess I’m going to fight one more time before it,” said Barao, in a recent interview with Tatame.com. “I don’t care if I have to fight one or two more times before it. I just wanna show my work and make a great show for the fans, who were always there for me.”
Barao has not lost in his last 29 fights, winning 28 of them and having the other declared a no-contest. His lone career defeat came in 2005 in his MMA debut.
