The UFC is busting out the big guns for UFC 146, rounding out an all-heavyweight main card with the addition of a bout between Mark Hunt and Stefan Struve.
Yahoo! Sports’ Kevin Iole first reported the news.
Hunt and Struve join the likes of UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos, number one contender Alistair Overeem, former champs Frank Mir and Cain Velasquez, Roy “Big Country” Nelson and Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva, Gabriel Gonzaga and Shane Del Rosario on the top-heavy main card.
Seasoned veteran Mark Hunt (8-7) has been experiencing something of a career resurgence lately, having gone on a three-fight streak that includes a brilliant first round knockout over Cheick Kongo. Hunt picked up the victory over Kongo last month at UFC 144 and is looking to keep his momentum rolling toward a title shot.
Since suffering the third KO/TKO finish of his UFC career to Travis Browne last May, 24-year-old Stefan Struve (23-5) has bulked up and started putting things together in the cage. What’s resulted is a two-fight run, comprised of finishes over Pat Barry and Dave Herman.
UFC 146 is expected to take place on May 26, 2012, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
