The Ultimate Fighter: Live debuted last Friday night, and already things have gone awry.
At least, that’s according to UFC president Dana White, who tweeted the following message after wrapping up work on The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil:
“Just landed in Vegas from TUF Brazil and something bad has already happened on TUF here so on my way to the training center.”
The Nevada State Athletic Commission today released the medical suspension information from the sixteen fights which took place on that premiere episode, revealing that advancing fighter Jeremy Larsen has been suspended for suffering a laceration in his first fight. With the possibility of physician’s clearance by the sixteenth though, it’s far from a foregone conclusion that Larsen will even have to leave the show.
Unfortunately, it looks like the “something bad” will likely end up being the untimely passing of castmember Michael Chiesa’s father, Mark, this past Saturday.
Whether Chiesa goes home — or if teammate Sam Sicilia, who posted a message of condolence to his teammate on Facebook as tagged near their home of Spokane, Washington, goes with him — remains to be seen. Regardless, all goodwill to the Chiesa family.
