The state of Wyoming passed a bill this past week making MMA legal. Wyoming becomes the 47th state to legalize the sport, thanks to a bill sponsored by Representative Bill Pedersen.
Both the state’s Senate and House of Representatives passed it. MMA was not previously illegal in Wyoming, but it was unregulated, making those bouts held there unofficial.
Nate Marquardt, a former contender in the UFC and a current fighter for Strikeforce, and Justin Salas are both from Wyoming. The bill outlines a creation for a state MMA board to oversee and regulate fights.
