Bob Sapp continues find promoters who’ll set him up with a paycheck, as he’s currently scheduled to face journeyman James Thompson at Super Fight League 1 this Sunday in India.
On a five-fight losing streak, the former PRIDE and K-1 veteran has turned in a bevy of embarrassing performances in both kickboxing and MMA matches over the past few years that have had many calling for his retirement. Despite that upsetting trend, Sapp assures that his fight against Thompson will see him reversing his recent fortunes.
“On March 11th, you’re gonna see more action than in the past, which has been mostly poor performance and lot of talk — this time it’s all action,” he said. “You’re gonna see the Beast get another victory.”
Sapp’s opponent is 2-8 with one no contest in his last eleven fights, though he’s put up more of a fight in his recent appearances than Sapp. The Beast predicts that he and Thompson will clash in the middle and throw down until one of them drops, which he accurately predicts won’t take long.
“I expect him to come out charging like he always does,” he said. “So, I will meet him in the center and we’re gonna slug it out. Definitely I am gonna go after him. And as you know when you get two guys in there that are as big as us, the fight will never last long. So, expect to have my hand raised at the end.”
Sapp and Thompson are to meet at Super Fight League 1 at the Andheri Sports Complex in Mumbai, India. Check out the video of Sapp’s most recent “fight,” which took place late last month against the unheralded Volkan Duzgun.
