Urijah Faber Reveals Coaches, Plans For “The Ultimate Fighter: Live”

Urijah Faber has his focus on being the best coach possible when The Ultimate Fighter: Live begins this Friday night on FX. Faber will coach opposite UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz, and will face Cruz for the belt later this year.

Recently, Faber announced his coaching staff for the show, as it will include Master Thong, Fabio Prado, Dustin Akbari, Justin Buchholz and Lance Palmer. “The California Kid” also said several of his Team Alpha Male fighters will make stops by, including Chad Mendes and Joseph Benavidez.

“We’re looking for positive attitudes and great work ethics and guys who are mentally tough,” said Faber, in a recent interview with “I think my role is going to be a motivator and a mentor, and someone these guys can use as a tool to improve.”

A total of 16 elimination-round fights will take place this Friday night, with those winning being included in the house. Each week, there will be live fights on Friday night, while Faber-Cruz III is set for July 7 at UFC 148.
