The Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix will finally come to a conclusion on May 19 when Josh Barnett and Daniel Cormier square off on Showtime. The bout has been on hold for several months due to a broken hand suffered by Cormier in his win over Antonio Silva in the semifinals.
The fight was announced Saturday night during the broadcast of Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey.
“Finally, I’m back and I’m ready to fight,” Cormier said. “I was given an opportunity (Cormier was an injury replacement into the grand prix) and I took it. I’m fighting the biggest fight of my career.”
Barnett, in his usual casual-self, said, “I find ways to occupy my time,” in regards to the long delay. Barnett has competed in pro wrestling matches during the hiatus.
