Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney has confirmed the rematch between Eddie Alvarez and Shinya Aoki for Bellator 66 on April 20. The card will take place inside the I-X Center in Cleveland, Ohio.
Alvarez and Aoki met back in 2008, with Aoki scoring a submission victory over the former Bellator lightweight champion with a first round heel hook. Alvarez was undefeated from that loss until a defeat at the hands of Michael Chandler last year that took his belt from him.
Overall, Alvarez went 8-1 since falling to Aoki, improving his career record to 22-3. He is 6-1 with Bellator. Aoki, meanwhile, went 11-2 during that span and is now 30-5; he will be making his Bellator debut.
Bellator 66’s main card will air live on MTV2, while the prelims are streamed on Spike.com.
