Michael Bisping Eyeing Silva-Sonnen 2 Winner

Michael Bisping took on Chael Sonnen this past January at UFC on Fox 2 in a bout that he was widely forecast to lose. The Count did eventually drop the bout by decision, but it was controversial, as many felt he’d done more than enough to secure the victory for himself.

Regardless, Bisping came away from the fight in an improved position at middleweight, having more than hung in there with the division’s consensus number two. Or, as he put it during a recent appearance on MMAJunkie Radio: “I don’t think it was a step backward. If anything, I cemented myself as one of the top contenders in the division. I want to fight again soon. I’m aching to fight.”

As for whom he’ll face next, Bisping isn’t quite sure, as most of the division’s elite are tied up with other matchups. Whoever it is, The Count just wants it to propel him to the title shot he feels he’ more than ready for.

“I was just going back and forth with (UFC president) Dana (White) last night, so I’m not sure where we’re at, but I’m hoping that (with) one more good win over a good opponent, I should fight the winner of Chael and Anderson later in the year,” he said.

Bisping and Sonnen fought on January 28 at UFC on Fox 2: Evans vs. Davis from the United Center in Chicago, with Sonnen taking home the unanimous decision.
