It was reported earlier this month that Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal had run into some severe health scares from complications related to a knee surgery. The former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion contracted a staph infection and needed some five operations to clear it out. Though it looked at one point as though Lawal would lose his leg, he managed to leave the hospital still a biped, but with a PICC line feeding antibiotics directly into his heart.
All of this came out after Lawal was out of the woods, as he kept it under wraps to avoid starting any kind of panic. Today, though, it was reported by FrontRowBrian through The Underground that Lawal had been readmitted to the hospital to undergo his sixth operation and is in poor condition.
Apparently, the staph infection which threatened his life so recently has reemerged. Lawal has been switched to a course of the antibiotic Vancomycin, a drug commonly used after all other courses of antibiotic treatment have been exhausted due to the high frequency of moderate to severe side effects.
Send your goodwill King Mo’s way.
