Sudden Victory Rounds Confirmed For UFC Flyweight Tourney Openers

Demetrious Johnson broke the news recently that he had signed a contract for a sudden victory round if it was needed when he meets Ian McCall in one semifinal of the UFC flyweight tournament. The tourney semis will take place this Friday night at UFC on FX 2: Alves vs. Kampmann from Australia.

Now, has confirmed that both semifinals – Johnson vs. McCall and Joseph Benavidez-Yashuhiro Urushtani – will feature the extra fourth round if they are ruled a draw by the judges. Both fights will be part of the main card from the Allphones Arena and broadcast on FX.

The sudden victory round is used on The Ultimate Fighter show if fights are ruled even after two rounds. The extra round will not be used in the finals, which will be consisted over five rounds.
