Yves Edwards Injured, Jeremey Stephens To Face Donald Cerrone

It was revealed today that an undisclosed injury has forced Yves Edwards to withdraw from his scheduled lightweight tilt against Donald Cerrone at UFC on FUEL TV 3; MMAJunkie reports that Jeremey Stephens will be stepping in as his replacement.

Jeremey “Lil’ Heathen” Stephens (20-7) is a seasoned player in the UFC’s lightweight division, having appeared in the Octagon thirteen times against some of his weight class’ toughest opposition. The 25-year-old most recently appeared in the cage this past October against Anthony Pettis, losing via unanimous decision to end a two-fight winning streak. The three-time Knockout of the Night winner sports a UFC record of 7-6.

Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone (17-4, 1 NC) was on a roll since transitioning over from the WEC, having run through Paul Kelly, Vagner Rocha, Charles Oliveira and Dennis Siver all last year — and then he met Nate Diaz. Diaz took it to Cerrone for three rounds to earn a unanimous decision in their UFC 141 tilt, stalling his momentum. Like Stephens, Cerrone will be looking to get back on the winning track when they meet in the cage.

UFC on FUEL TV 3 is set to go down on May 15 at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virginia.
