Strong wrestling once again doomed Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, as Ryan Bader handed the former UFC light heavyweight champion a decision loss at UFC 144: Edgar vs. Henderson. All three judges scored the fight 30-27 for Bader.
The former winner on The Ultimate Fighter, Bader controlled the bout with his quickness. The two-time All-American wrestler at Arizona State University put Jackson on his back several times, working for submissions, as well.
“(This win) surpasses (winning on TUF),” Bader said. “Beating ‘Rampage’ here in Japan is an amazing experience and an amazing feeling.”
Bader, who is expecting a child in April, added, “This is a good little gift right here.”
Following back-to-back losses at the hands of Jon Jones – the current UFC light heavyweight champion – and Tito Ortiz, Bader has now won two straight. He defeated Jason Brilz by knockout last year.
Jackson’s biggest moment in the fight came when he picked Bader up and slammed him – much like he did while making a name for himself in PRIDE years ago – but “Darth” quickly recovered.
