Former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson reported on Twitter Friday that he was still six pounds over the limit for his fight with Ryan Bader tonight at UFC 144: Edgar vs. Henderson. Some four hours later when Jackson stepped on the official scale, he hit 211, five pounds more than allowed.
Jackson-Bader will still happen as the co-main event, with Jackson forfeiting part of his purse to the former Ultimate Fighter winner. FightLine will have complete coverage of the entire event.
During the FUEL TV-televised weigh-ins, Rich Franklin went on the attack towards Jackson in regards to the weight loss, saying if he was able to get so close to the limit, he should have been able to make weight. “Rampage” took exception to those remarks during the show.
“Rich Franklin needs to watch his mouth before I smack him the next time I see him,” said Jackson, who blamed the rough weight cut on an injury suffered in training. “He should watch what he says. You don’t question if a fighter is taking a fight seriously or not. I take all my fights seriously. I’m tired of people saying that.”
Jackson is coming off a loss to Jon Jones via submission for the UFC title. He is 32-9 overall and 7-3 in the UFC. Bader sports a 13-2 record, including six wins in eight fights inside the Octagon. You can check out his comments about missing weight below.
