The Ultimate Fighter 15 is set to debut on FX for the first time on March 9, bringing a new format to the new network.
During the show’s fourteen season run on Spike TV, The Ultimate Fighter was traditionally taped over six weeks, edited for several more and then aired, with a live finale to follow. On its new home, TUF will run for thirteen weeks, with each episode hurried through editing to air weekly ahead of a live-aired fight.
The cast will feature 32 lightweight and welterweight fighters initially, with sixteen fights going down during the live, two-hour season premier to determine which competitors will make it into the house. The teams of 155 and 170-pounders will be chosen and coached by UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz and his rival Urijah Faber.
Cruz and Faber will meet in the cage this July 7 at UFC 148. The Ultimate Fighter 15 will debut on FX at 9p.m. ET/PT and run for two hours, with each subsequent episode airing for one hour on Friday nights beginning at 10p.m. ET/PT.
