UFC On Fuel TV: Tim Means Vs. Bernardo Magalhaes

Round 1: The early striking exchanges are mostly even, both guys feeling the other out with probing strikes. Magalhaes shoots for the takedown, but Means stuffs it and makes him pay with a knee. Magalhaes backs off. Means ties Magalhaes up with the clinch and fires off knees and some dirty boxing. Means working his knees well up the middle against his shorter opponent. Magalhaes cracks Means with a right that gets him smiling. Means sits Magalhaes down with a knee and follow up punches. Means patient in his advance; he slaps on a D’arce choke, but Magalhes is aware enough to roll out of it and back to his feet. He finds no respite there though, as Means is right back on him with knees from the clinch. Magalhaes on his heels, trying to recover.

Round 2: Magalhaes catches a kick and tries for the takedown, but is soundly denied. Means goes back to cutting Magalhaes off with his footwork and using his range to dot him up, both with punches and kicks. Two minutes in and Magalhaes is mostly only throwing overhand shots. He lands a good left and goes for the takedown, but is denied. Means stays on him and presses him into the cage, firing off some good knees and elbows from the clinch. Magalhaes breaks free and they go back at it on their feet, Means stalking. Means briefly engages the clinch and works knees. Thirty seconds left and Means cracks Magalhaes with a hard body shot that drops him to the mat. Means beating on Magalhaes with ground and pound, but backs out and tells him to stand about as the bell sounds.

Round 3: Magalhaes complained of pain in his foot between rounds; there is visible swelling on his right ankle. Magalhaes with a left hook, but Means is still the one controlling the striking exchanges. Magalhaes shoots deep for a takedown but Means defends easily. Magalhaes times another takedown well, but Means again shuts him down. Magalhaes is slow to get back to his feet. Magalhaes shoots yet again; he only gets Means down as he starts in with hammerfists and only briefly, as Means pops immediately to his feet. Means after Magalhaes, dropping him with another body shot against the cage. Means backs off and lets him up. Magalhaes shoots for another takedown and Means makes him pay with elbows. Magalhaes is fading as Means pours it on with elbows and punches on the ground. Means backs out and lets him back to his feet. Means with a head kick. Means times a slick knee and continues marching Magalhaes down until the bell.
